Resolution Project Celebrates Ten Years Partnering with Harvard National Model United Nations

April 23, 2025—Boston, Massachusetts—Eleven young social entrepreneurs representing four social ventures have been selected as winners of the 2025 Resolution Social Venture Challenge at Harvard National Model United Nations (HNMUN). The Social Venture Challenge (SVC) at HNMUN identifies exceptional young social entrepreneurs with innovative projects to address issues in their communities and provides them with the opportunity to receive funding and mentorship through a Resolution Fellowship. What makes this Social Venture Challenge so special is its call to action amid the most prestigious collegiate Model United Nations conference of its kind in the world—a gathering of some of the brightest and most talented young leaders out there.

Over the past 10 years, Resolution Project has supported 57 ventures from the HNMUN SVC, awarding a total of $155,395 to HNMUN SVC winners across the years. Students competing in the HNMUN SVC have focused on the issue areas of basic needs, development, education, energy and environment, equality and empowerment, health and wellness, and humanitarian relief.

“Being an HNMUN [SVC] winner—as a Law student in Caracas who sees the significant gender gap in the highest echelons of corporate law—means having the support and legitimacy that a gender-oriented association needs to permeate the highly traditional spaces we intend to target. AVEMUD intends to prepare young female law students in Caracas for the challenges faced in the corporate world, by empowering them through example, and providing them with the resources and network from an early stage in their career to become leaders in their practice, climb the ladder, and break glass ceilings when they graduate,” said Luisana Sequera, representing Asociación Venezolana para Mujeres en Derecho (AVEMUD) from Venezuela.

CEO & Co-Founder of Resolution Project George Tsiatis said, “I was one of the organizers of HNMUN when I was a student at Harvard, so partnering with them every year is extremely special. This year we’re celebrating the 10-year anniversary of Resolution’s partnership with HNMUN. It’s been an honor witnessing some of the brightest minds from around the world collaborate in solving today’s biggest issues. With the principles of multilateralism, connection, and equity in mind, this year’s winners are truly outstanding and are sure to transform their communities in big ways.”

Reflecting on the achievement of being an HNMUN SVC winner, Guaines Vera, representing ALMA from Venezuela said, “ALMA for me and my co-founders means having the opportunity to bring forward new methods for decreasing the incidence of breast cancer in the long term in our country, Venezuela. Besides being one of the only forms of cancer that are non-preventable, breast cancer incidence relies heavily on rural communities and lack of adequate quality healthcare and education. We hope to increase breast cancer awareness through a revolution in the way this disease is brought to women’s attention, especially in rural areas.”

The SVC at HNMUN equips students with the skills, resources, and knowledge to implement change in their home communities. On what this means to the impact they can make in their community, Ivana Gonzalez, representing EducaMás from Venezuela, said, “I recognize that I was born with privileges that many in my country do not have, and this opportunity allows me to give back in a meaningful way. For EducaMás, this recognition means the ability to launch our classes with better resources and facilities, something that wouldn’t be possible without this support. More than anything, becoming a Resolution Fellow gives me a profound sense of purpose, knowing that I’m contributing to something greater than myself.”

Through this partnership with HNMUN, Resolution Project is working toward a more sustainable and equitable future. Bruno Espinoza Perez, representing Roots to Nourish from Peru, said, “I want to provide communities with the tools and resources they need to thrive, but more importantly, to help create a sense of responsibility and autonomy over what’s built. When something truly belongs to a community, it lasts. That’s the kind of sustainable culture I hope to inspire.”
